A homeowner in Exeter contacted Drain Wizard to explore the possibility of installing a new toilet in a garage located at the top of their garden.
Following an initial site assessment, we found there was no existing drainage connection within the customer’s property that could be used. Using South West Water’s sewer network mapping, we identified a public sewer running within the highway behind the garage, making a new sewer connection the most practical solution.
New sewer connection in Exeter
Drain Wizard managed the project from start to finish, liaising with both South West Water and the local Highways Authority to obtain the necessary permits and approvals. Once all paperwork had been completed and approved, works were scheduled and appropriate traffic management measures were put in place to ensure the safety of both the public and our team.

Our engineers excavated within the highway and installed a new connection into South West Water’s public sewer network. We then laid new 110mm drainage pipework to connect the customer’s property to the new sewer connection.
Following inspection and approval by South West Water, the excavation was backfilled using MOT Type 1 stone and the highway surface was reinstated with hot rolled tarmac, leaving the area fully restored.

The project was completed successfully, providing the customer with a compliant and reliable drainage connection for their new garage toilet facility.
